The Level Of Concentration Is High - 1314 Words

With my research I found that the level of concentration is high enough to suggest that some markets within the construction industry can be considered oligopolistic. It is important to remember that the market structure is only one characteristic of various factors which affects the performance of firms concerned. My research found that within the Materials and components grouping 13/24 markets are oligopolistic. 2/9 is oligopolistic within the Professional consultancy, 2/11 within Plant and equipment and 6/10 in the Energy and supplies group. This helps me to conclude my thoughts in that the level of concentration is high enough to suggest that some markets within the construction industry can be considered oligopolistic. Commercial confidentiality has been a factor in my research as it has prevented me from gaining full access and data required to fully investigate the matter at hand. Therefore some information for certain groupings has been withheld to prevent commercially sensitive data collected by the ONS to be made available to competitors. When this occurs, it is usually a taken as the market being fairly concentrated. There are some obvious irregularities such as ‘Agriculture’ which is listed as ‘not available’ regardless of the fact that it is included within the list of 10 least concentrated sectors. Within the Materials and components group, concrete and stone products are seen to be the largest single sector which is supplying materials to construction.Show MoreRelatedConcentration Levels Of High School Students Chewing Gum Versus Non Chewers1215 Words   |  5 PagesAbstract: The purpose of this experiment was the find the difference between concentration levels of high school students chewing gum versus non-chewers. The concentration portion provided students with two color tests to take to record differences in concentration. The results provided data with an increase in concentration of students while chewing gum. Introduction: Psychologist have tested the effect of gum many times but can’t specifically find what makes gum a concentrating agent. Patients under the diet need to consume foods that are high in fat and protein such as cheeses, hamburgers, bacon and heavy creams. Foods that are high in starches and sugar are not to be consumed within the diet because they will affect the two main causes of weight gain within the body. The two main causes of weight gain are high concentration levels of sugar and insulin within the body. To decide which cause can increase weight gain can difficultRead MoreThe metals analyzed were Cadmium, Copper and Lead. Hydrogen peroxide was used as the substrate and the rate was measured by oxygen production. Hypothesis If the substrate concentration is increased then the rate of a catalase reaction will also increase until it reaches the optimal concentration or saturation point and will remain constant. This is because thereRead MoreBlood Glucose Regulation Lab1506 Words   |  7 PagesJazmine Ricine Parham Instructor: Professor Deno Date: 12.03.2014 Predictions Plasma glucose levels will be highest immediately after the meal (0 hr) Plasma ketone levels will be highest 1-3 hours after the meal Plasma insulin levels will be highest immediately after the meal (0 hr) Plasma glucagon levels will be highest before the meal (fasting) Materials and Methods Dependent Variable plasma levels of glucose, ketones, insulin, and glucagon Independent Variable food and beverage intake ControlledRead MoreEssay on Lab report: blood glucose regulation1131 Words   |  5 Pagesï » ¿LABORATORY REPORT Activity 5: Blood Glucose Regulation Name: Instructor: Date: MATERIALS AND METHODS 1.
